Human rights advocacy

24th July 2015
ACT works on promoting and speaking out for human dignity and rights in national, regional and international arenas. The alliance prioritises activities that advance equality and inclusiveness, particularly for women and girls, so that all people can realise their full potential and enjoy their rights protected by international law, customs and norms.

At international level, the key focus for our human rights advocacy will be processes related to the United Nations Human Rights Council, including Business and Human Rights Forums, Universal Periodic Review, and Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women, among others. ACT will also engage through its members and forums on national and regional level advocacy on relevant human rights issues and processes as well as platforms.

ACT Alliance use the rights based approach, which recognises the rights of women and men as rights holders as well as the responsibility of duty bearers such as governments, civil society and private sector to secure these rights.
