The Lutheran World Federation (LWF) is a global communion of Christian churches in the Lutheran tradition. Founded in 1947 in Lund, Sweden, the LWF has 145 member churches in 98 countries all over the world representing over 72 million Christians.
The LWF strives to put faith into action working in areas of ecumenical and interfaith relations, theological reflection, humanitarian assistance, international affairs and human rights, and mission and development.
The Department for World Service is the LWF’s internationally recognized humanitarian and development arm. Rooted in Christian values of love, reconciliation and justice, World Service responds to human need throughout the world - irrespective of ethnicity, gender, religion, race, or political conviction.
