ACT Alliance’s Rapid Response Fund has been activated, approving USD 49,999 to support vulnerable Zimbabwean returnees arriving from South Africa through the Beitbridge Reception Centre and the Njube Centre Transit Hub in Bulawayo. The four-month response will be implemented by the Ecumenical Church Leaders Forum (ECLF) and aims to assist up to 2,600 returnees.
The project will provide safe reception and temporary accommodation, food, drinking water, essential household items, psychosocial and pastoral support, protection services, referrals and assistance with onward transportation. Particular attention will be given to women, children, older people, persons with disabilities and returnees facing multiple protection and socioeconomic vulnerabilities. The response will work closely with government authorities, churches and humanitarian partners to support safe, dignified and coordinated reintegration.
