CSW65: The Road to Equality

The 65th UN Commission on the Status of Women (15 to 26 March 2021) is the UN’s principal intergovernmental body for promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment. By documenting the reality of women’s lives throughout the world, CSW helps shape global standards on gender equality. The negotiations this year will focus on Women’s full and effective participation and decision-making in public life, as well as the elimination of violence, for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls. ACT will be supporting a global virtual delegation to actively engage.

Delegates will be equipped and supported to share their expertise, lived experiences and theologies, to influence the official text, strengthen alliances and promote gender justice. ACT will also co-convene a number of official Side and Parallel events that will profile faith actors from our programmes, who are challenging existing power structures, tackling discriminatory social norms and addressing barriers to gender justice.

You can add your voice to the call for gender justice in many diverse and creative ways: Join other ACT Alliance member organisations on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram using the hashtags: #TheRoad2Equality #AcceleratingGender and thousands of activists everywhere using the hashtags #CSW65. Remember to tag @ACTAlliance. Tag the media, government officials, missions, unions to amplify the message. Share stories from your community and your organisations!
