ACT Regional Representative (Africa)

The Regional Representative is responsible for the overall leadership, representation and effective management of the ACT Alliance Secretariat in Africa to realize the expected outcomes and achieve positive impact in the life of people.  She/he ensures program implementation in an accountable and participatory manner in accordance with the ACT Global Strategy and approved ACT policies and guidelines. As part of a global ACT secretariat, the Regional Representative strengthens and supports national, sub-regional and regional ACT forums in Africa in their work in emergencies, sustainable development and advocacy, and manages the ACT secretariat presence in the region.

This area of work builds on the long history of ACT’s humanitarian work and contributes directly to the strategic aim on human dignity where the application of internationally recognised humanitarian principles and standards helps ensure the protection of human dignity. The humanitarian programme supports the Alliance to demonstrate enhanced efficiency, coordination and timeliness in the humanitarian work, as well as to apply holistic programming approaches around response, preparedness, disaster risk reduction (DDR), climate change, and sustainable development.

The Humanitarian Programme Advisor for MENA supports ACT members and country forums in the region to develop/implement emergency preparedness and response plans, and manages the implementation of the humanitarian mechanism based on the ACT Humanitarian Policy, and integration of holistic programming in humanitarian appeals. She/he works closely with the Secretariat regional and humanitarian team, ACT Alliance members and Forums at the national and regional level.

Communications Officer

The Communications Officer is responsible for editorial production of strategic communication of events and visits in Geneva, media relations, and supports humanitarian communications work for the ACT Alliance.  This work serves to implement the ACT communications strategy (both internal and external) by building the ACT brand, member pride in ACT, and ACT’s reputation as a thought leader. The communications officer will work with ACT Alliance staff and ACT member staff around the world to gather relevant communications material (stories, photos, video, etc) for use by ACT and its members.

Vice President, Development and Humanitarian Assistance (DHA)

Church World Service (CWS) is a faith based organization transforming communities around the world through just and sustainable responses to hunger, poverty, displacement and disaster. To provide the leadership required to articulate the vision, mission and core values of the DHA program of Church World Service (CWS). To research, design, propose to PLT and implement approved strategies responding to emerging patterns of development and humanitarian assistance that integrates the applicable core competencies of DHA, IRP, and Advocacy, contributing to sustainable development, in particular how these contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals.

To provide ongoing strategic support and oversight to more than 100 CWS staff members based in eight (8) nations and our Senior Director of DHA, Associate Director of Program Monitoring & Evaluation, Associate Director of Communicators, and Associate Director of Funds Mobilization, for purposes of strategic program planning, budgeting and staff performance.

To ensure the effective integration of DHA’s regional programs in collaboration with strategic international humanitarian agreements including but not limited to the United Nations, World Bank, Regional Governmental Organizations, ACT Alliance and World Council of Churches. To collaborate with the SVP of IRP to ensure that all programmatic work is consistent with the Mission, Vision, Values, and Strategic Plan of Church World Service. To work in close collaboration with the larger CWS senior leadership infrastructure, in particular the EVP and possibly in the future with VP Global Migration.

Climate Change Project Coordinator

ACT Alliance is recruiting a Climate Change Project Coordinator to be based in Bangkok. The Coordinator takes the lead in a number of initiatives and activities related to the ACT Alliance “Scaling up climate action in line with the 1.5 degrees Celsius goal” project, especially the coordination of the internal and external communications, supporting the various structures at global, regional and national levels. It involves intensive work with ACT Alliance members and partners at regional and national level to help build ACT member and group capacities, and to facilitate increased collaboration and joint initiatives. The position will report to the Global Policy and Advocacy Coordinator The coordinator will advise the ACT Regional Representatives on implementing activities at national and regional levels.

Global Quality and Accountability Officer

ACT Alliance is recruiting a Global Quality and Accountability Officer to be based in Bangkok. The Global Quality and Accountability Officer leads the implementation of quality and accountability principles and practices in the ACT Secretariat and is responsible for providing technical support to national forums and members seeking to improve the quality and accountability of their programmes, thus helping to bridge policy and practice. Consultant for the formation of a Syria partnership

The overall objective with hiring a consultant is to guide and drive the process towards a joint partnership that builds on the reality inside Syria and on each organization’s strengths and strategies for providing humanitarian and recovery assistance to Syria.

Expected results:
