ACT Alliance will launch an appeal for joint humanitarian response in Myanmar (appeal code MMR251) after the March 28, 2025 earthquake that devastated Myanmar and was still deadly over 1000 km away in Bangkok.
The death toll from the 7.7 magnitude earthquake is over 1700, and is projected to rise to over 10,000 when all information is known. ACT members working in Myanmar have already initiated emergency response to support the affected population in Myanmar.
ACT members Finn Church Aid and Christian Aid are coordinating their responses, with FCA already providing multi-purpose cash assistance in Bago (Tanguoo) and looking to expand through the appeal into Mandalay/Sagaing for more MPCA, as well as education in emergencies, food security and protection.
Christian Aid are conducting rapid needs assessments, mostly focused in the northwest of Myanmar- Mandalay, Sagaing, Nay Pyi Taw and Magway- through MPCA, protection, cash for food, and humanitarian coordination with local actors.
The ACT Alliance Alert after the quake can be found ACT Alliance Alert – Myanmar Earthquake response.
To donate to the appeal, please contact ACT’s head of humanitarian affairs, Niall O’Rourke and Director of Operations, Nancy Etté.
