Call for Submission of Public Statements at the ACT General Assembly: Uniting Voices for Change

In preparation for the upcoming ACT Alliance General Assembly 2024, we are issuing a call for submission of public statements that reflect our collective commitment to addressing critical global issues. As a diverse and dynamic alliance, our voices hold the power to advocate for justice, foster hope, and inspire positive change worldwide.

Building upon the recommendations set forth by the 2018 General Assembly aimed at enhancing the protocols for public statements, the ACT Governing Board has approved a Framework for Presenting Public Statements at ACT Alliance General Assembly 2024. This framework is provided herein for your perusal and reference.

We are at this point inviting Reference Groups (RGs), global Communities of Practice (CoPs) and ACT Regional Forums (RFs) to submit proposals of statements on global and regional issues, particularly those aligning with the theme of the General Assembly and the thematic feature day.

ACT members and Forums are invited to start thinking about potential statements on regional or country-specific issues to be discussed during the regional pre-assemblies.

If you are planning to submit a draft statement, we would be grateful for your indication of interest and the statement’s main theme(s) by end of May.

The draft statements on global and regional issues (ideally also on country-specific issues) are to be submitted to the ACT Advocacy and Policy Reference Group (APG) by July 31, 2024, at the email Marianna.Leite@actalliance.org.

Following the APG review, the Secretariat will distribute proposed statements to participants in Regional Pre-Assemblies (September 18-25, 2024). This distribution will occur at least 10 days before the respective pre-assemblies, allowing ample time for thorough review, consideration, and potential amendments.

All proposed statements (on global issues and regional/country specific) must be submitted to the APG by September 30, 2024, providing sufficient time for review, consideration, and potential amendments before dissemination.

Key Guidelines for Submission

1. Thematic Alignment: Statements should closely align with the overarching theme of the General Assembly, focusing on fostering hope, encouraging collective action, and advocating for justice.

2. Regional and Global Focus: We encourage submissions that address both global challenges and regional or country-specific issues, ensuring a comprehensive representation of the diverse concerns within our alliance.

3. Collaborative Preparation: Utilize existing ACT structures such as RGs, CoPs and RFs to collaboratively prepare statements, drawing on collective wisdom and expertise.

4. Timely Submission: Please adhere to the submission deadlines outlined in the provided timeline, allowing for thorough review, consideration, and potential amendments.

5. Engagement and Transparency: Actively engage in discussions, provide constructive feedback, and maintain transparency throughout the statement preparation process.

Submission Deadline

If you are planning to submit a draft statement, we would be grateful for your indication of interest and the statement’s main theme(s) by end of May.

All proposed statements on global/regional issues (ideally also on country-specific issues) are to be submitted to the ACT Advocacy and Policy Reference Group (APG) by July 31, 2024.

All statements (on global issues and regional/country specific) must be submitted to the APG by September 30, 2024.

The final deadline for distributing statements to participants at the General Assembly is set for October 12, 2024, ensuring a comprehensive and well-informed discussion during the General Assembly.

Your participation in this call is instrumental in shaping the dialogue and advocacy efforts of the ACT Alliance. Together, let us unite our voices, amplify our impact, and work towards a more just and sustainable world.
